Crayfish Specimens for Biology Labs | 50-Pack Arthropod Dissection Set
Save time and supplies with this convenient 50-pack of crayfish specimens, an excellent choice for any activity requiring the dissection of an arthropod. Widely used across elementary, middle school, and high school biology labs, crayfish allow students to observe clear examples of segmented body plans, specialized appendages, and well-defined internal systems. This bulk pack is ideal for classrooms, co-ops, and lab programs running multiple dissection sessions.
Students can observe and document external structures such as the cephalothorax, antennae, compound eyes, and various appendages. Internal anatomy includes the stomach and intestines, nerves, glands, gills, muscles, and additional structures commonly studied during arthropod dissections. Each specimen is individually vacuum-sealed to maintain quality and moisture until use.
Specimens are initially preserved in formaldehyde to fix tissues, then rinsed with water and packed in a low-odor, non-toxic holding solution, producing a specimen that is easy to handle and suitable for classroom environments.
Store specimens at room temperature away from direct sunlight. Do not freeze or expose to temperatures above 85°F. Unopened specimens will last up to 12 months. After opening, place the specimen in a zip-top bag and keep for up to one month.
Did You Know? Crayfish have specialized mouthparts that work together to sense, grasp, and process food, making them an excellent specimen for studying how multiple structures coordinate to perform a single function.
NOTE: This item includes crayfish specimens only. For a complete activity set, see our Crayfish Dissection Bundle.
