Plain Earthworm Dissection Specimen for Biology Labs | Annelid Anatomy
This preserved earthworm dissection specimen allows students to discover annelid anatomy and is an excellent choice for activities requiring the dissection of segmented worms, including earthworms and leeches. Commonly used in middle school and high school biology labs, earthworms are ideal model organisms because their body organization clearly demonstrates how multiple organ systems function together in invertebrates. Each specimen is prepared to maintain clear visibility of anatomical features, making it well suited for hands-on classroom dissection focused on observation, documentation, and comparison.

This preserved earthworm specimen for dissection supports instruction in invertebrate biology and comparative anatomy, making it an excellent choice for anatomy labs, life science courses, and homeschool science programs. Specimens are individually vacuum sealed for cleanliness and convenience. They are initially preserved in formaldehyde to fix tissues, then rinsed with water and packed in a low-odor, non-toxic holding solution to ensure safe handling and long-lasting educational use.
Did You Know? Earthworms do not have lungs. Instead, they breathe through their skin, which must stay moist so oxygen can pass directly into their bloodstream—one reason earthworms are most active after rain.
Store specimens in an area of room temperature away from direct sunlight. Do not freeze or expose to high temperatures (more than 85ºF). Specimens will last 12 months when left unopened. After opening, the specimen should be placed in a zip-top bag and may be kept for up to one month.
Discounts available for purchases of 10 or more earthworm specimens!
NOTE:
**This item includes earthworm specimens only. Tray and dissecting tools sold separately. For tools and other items, see our Earth Worm Specimen Dissection Bundle.
